I’m a typical girl. I LOVE shopping. But as well as spending far too much instore and online I also love learning everything about the industry too – from store operations to ecommerce strategy and home delivery.
After more than 20 years writing about retail – during which time I’ve interviewed some of the biggest names running retail in the UK and beyond – I know my stuff.
I’ve been a news reporter and then features editor on Retail Week; a freelance editor on eDelivery.net and am currently a freelance research editor for InternetRetailing, responsible for the full writing and editing process of a number of their whitepapers. I’ve written for numerous retail trade publications, as well as ghostwriting for retail and businesses targeting the retail sector and beyond.
I’m a research editor for InternetRetailing. In this freelance role I’m responsible for the full editorial process of many of the company’s whitepapers, taking them from initial concept through to research, writing and editing and to final design and production. This involves close project management with the supporting sponsor. As well as this I contribute to a number of reports. A handful of recent examples are below.
Sizing up the apparel ecommerce industry – whitepaper looking at the business case for explaining fit and size, the business challenges it helps to overcome reviewing retailer approaches to size and fit. Supported by MySize.
Growth 2000 UK Report 2020 – contributor to this report into the UK top growth 2000 retailers.
State of localisation 2020 – whitepaper looking at the importance of localisation in retail and supported by Translate Media.
Thinking Inside The Box – whitepaper looking at the role of secondary packaging for everything from protection to brand recognition and brand building. Supported by DS Smith ePack.
Making Payments Pay – whitepaper on the changing role of payments within the retail experience. Supported by ACI Worldwide.
I worked as freelance interim editor of eDelivery.net, sourcing, writing and editing news and content for the ecommerce delivery website and putting together the weekly newsletter.
I was full-time on Retail Week from 1999 through to 2007, starting as news reporter and being promoted to features editor before moving to Bristol to have my children. I continued freelancing regularly for them until 2015. Click here for access to some of the pieces that I’ve written for them.
