I upgraded my phone tonight and came across a classic case of channels competing against each other rather than working together. Finding out the differences in price plans across the different channels nearly made me leave the shop and return home to buy online or by phone where prices differed massively.
But in a classic case of “I want it now!” I stuck with the instore sale process and was provided with a stark reminder of how good instore service can be – and how it really can’t compare in all instances to other channels. I left with a discounted monthly rate, my phone set up and working and all my data and pictures transferred over, and a fair assessment of whether the phone and tariff really were right for my needs. I had the chance to touch, play and get real advice. That said I still can’t work the thing properly!!
